Job Summary:

The primary role of a Shotcrete Nozzleman is to ensure the proper operation and daily maintenance of Normet SF-050-D shotcrete machines and application of wet shotcrete and other construction or maintenance jobs as required. Approx. 9,000m3 of fibre reinforced shotcrete is required to applied to a 5.7m dia. X 8,000m water tunnel supplying water to the Kemano Generating Station. Nozzlemen work a 2 week x 2week rotation, travel & expenses covered to & from site.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate proper equipment to apply shotcrete to the rock surface
  • Operate the robotic controls for Normet -SF-050-D Shotcrete equipment
  • Must be ACI Certified
  • Understands the concrete batching recipes and uses this as a basis for determining any problems they may encounter in the field. This involves understanding the quantities and the relationship between different batching materials including cement, sand, water, plasticizers, silica fume and steel fibers.
  • Responsible for quality assurance and quality control of shotcrete application
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an SDS sheet.

Skills and Qualification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in wet and dry shotcrete application.
  • Must be certified be EFNARC or American Concrete Institute under the "Shotcrete Nozzleman Certification" program specifically to operate diesel hydraulic mechanized shotcrete machines with robotic arms
  • Demonstrate experience in underground shotcrete machinery and ancillary equipment such as hydroscaler
  • Understand the concrete batching recipes and uses this as a basis for determining any problems they may encounter in the field. This involves understanding the quantities and the relationship between different batching materials including cement, sand, water, plasticizers, silica fume and steel fibers
  • Ability to multi task and work effectively
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently

Preferred:
  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core - Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent)
    • Required Specialty Module: U0086 (or other provincial equivalent)

  • Following Company and Client health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor
  • Responsible to ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Work in accordance with local legislation
