Compliance Specialist
Work Location: Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
Reporting to the H&S Superintendent Systems & Compliance - Fortescue Projects in a Perth based role, you will be responsible for assisting with the contractor compliance to Safety Management Systems and Management Plans through contractor pre-qualification, mobilisation, auditing and reviewing processes and procedures by both administrative review in Perth and in field verification at site.

Compliance Specialist

Reporting to the H&S Superintendent Systems & Compliance - Fortescue Projects in a Perth based role, you will be responsible for assisting with the contractor compliance to Safety Management Systems and Management Plans through contractor pre-qualification, mobilisation, auditing and reviewing processes and procedures by both administrative review in Perth and in field verification at site.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Work together with senior team members to align operating systems, monitor progress, and drive performance to support the business goals;
- Provide mentorship and Safety Leadership through positive engagement with the FMG and Contractor Management Teams across all Projects;
- Provide functional performance reporting and advice to the Management team;
- Liaise with Project Engineers, Contracts Specialists and Package Leads to ensure correct documentation and HSE requirements are communicated to contractors;
- Promote the FMG Major Hazards and Great Day Programs to ensure the health and safety of others in the workplace;
- Collate data to provide levy and work hour reports to internal teams and meet regulator requirements;
- Develop reports on Project WHS performance at the project level including statistical reporting;
- Monitor and measure contractor performance against their own HS management systems;
- Engage with external service providers, stakeholders and associated companies to build sustainable relationships to identify mutually beneficial service solutions that will deliver positive outcomes for FMG Projects;
- Develop processes to monitor compliance for FMG and Contractors performance against FMG HS and MH control standards at FMG Projects;
- Reinforce FMG's commitment to preventing injuries, illnesses, and damage to property;
- Drive, support and facilitate implementation, maintenance and improvement of the FMG Projects HS Management System;
- Lead by example through the display of Positive safe behaviors with a continual improvement focus and actively participate in all aspects of WHS;
Qualifications and skills required:
- Extensive in-field experience (min 5 years) working in construction, Processing, Mining operations, Manufacturing Logistics or similar
- Relevant Occupational Health & Safety qualifications
- Experience in Risk Management
- Previous experience in the Mining or Construction industry will be highly regarded
- Safety Auditing qualification (Lead Auditor) and an awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
- Demonstrated experience in contractor management
- Demonstrated experience in ICAM investigations
- Experience in procedural (safety) development
- Data analysis, trending & reporting
- Experience in project management would be highly regarded
- Current "A" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence or equivalent
