About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Analytical Services to lead the Chemical Laboratory operational team members to achieve both their safety and productivity targets. The role is based in Labrador City, NL and working on a Monday to Friday schedule, including some on-call periods on nights/weekends based on operational requirements.

Reporting to the Superintendent Analytical Services and Pellet Development and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will be:
  • Responsible for direct supervision of operating employees and deployment of equipment to meet production and safety requirements - actively promoting safety awareness, safe work practices, hazard identification and risk management principles
  • Coordinating and supervising the daily activities to support planning and production of the mine and processing operations
  • Setting priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinating work activities with other supervisors and areas
  • Solving problems based on practice and precedent
  • Making decisions which are guided by policies, procedures, and business plans
  • Maximizing employee safety and performance through training, work direction and in field interaction.
  • Developing and promoting a positive employee relations environment within the operations crew and across shifts.

Please note: Fly-in-fly-out arrangement is not available. Relocation assistance is provided.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
  • At least five years of Supervisory experience is preferred;
  • Effective communication and planning skills
  • Previous experience in a production/laboratory environment is an asset;
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset;
  • French language skills are an asset

The Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) is a leading Canadian producer of iron ore concentrate and iron ore pellets that serves customers worldwide. The company operates a mine, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities in Sept-àŽles, Quebec. It also operates a 418 kilometer railroad that links the mine to the port.
