Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Mining Team at their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO).

The Role

We are seeking an expatriate Technical Specialist - Mechanical for the Shovel Pad. You will provide technical maintenance expertise in Fleet Services for the Shovel Pad as well as provide guidance to develop the local workforce skills and knowledge.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • 10 years post trade, expert level experience on Mobile Plant Equipment, particularly in the following:
    • Epiroc and Sandvik Surface Blasthole Drills (D65, PV271 and D55SP)
    • Terex RH200 Hydraulic Shovels and Caterpillar 6050's
    • Hitachi EX2600 & 1200 Excavators
    • Australian or equivalent recognised Trade Certificate in Heavy Duty Mechanical Engineering.
  • High level of competency in using OEM System Software, especially CAT ET and Cummins Insight.
  • Proven experience in coaching/training personnel preferably in under developed countries.
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Supervisor 1,2&3 or equivalent is desirable.
  • Desire to work with and upskill/mentor national staff.
  • Previous Experience working in a remote location in a developing country is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Strong active listening and interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution and training
  • Ability to lead multi-national work crews and develop team members by providing feedback, coaching and formal training, where required
  • Solid understanding and awareness of HSE requirements, responsibilities and obligations


Mobilisation Requirements:
  • Must be open to work FIFO in PNG
  • Ability to provide/obtain valid police clearance
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
