Who we're looking for:

We are looking for a Superintendent - Ore Processing, to lead mill production safely and consistently, to achieve target outputs in a responsible, sustainable, and cost-effective manner. Reporting to the Mill Manager you will collaborate in the development of combined operational and maintenance strategies, objectives and plans to maximize mill runtime and reliability. Additional responsibilities for the role will include:
  • Continuous improvement of Health and Safety initiatives aiming for progressively higher standards of workplace health and safety outcomes.
  • Identify and assess operational risks; and ensure contingencies and controls are established to mitigate these risks, while ensuring risk management effectiveness.
  • Meet/exceed safe production requirements as per budget and forecast targets, in particular operational utilization and effective rates through appropriate tactics and planning.
  • Manage, monitor and audit to meet compliance with site regulations and KPIs.
  • Work closely with the maintenance department to ensure alignment of KPIs and maximize runtime

The successful candidate will have strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasive and leadership skills as well as demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively and make sound business decisions. You will have a strong operational background, good working knowledge of production procedures, methods, and production optimization. The following skills, knowledge and experience are required for the role:
  • A tertiary qualification in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.
  • A Minimum of ten years' experience in operational/metallurgy roles in a Metallurgical Plant with five years in senior / leadership roles.
  • Experience in fixed plant maintenance and SAP work management knowledge would be highly regarded
  • Continuous improvement mindset, able to identify and implement opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and strive in a fast paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrated high focus on safety and environmental protection
