Superintendent Mine Maintenance (Site Support Services)

Barrick is looking for a Superintendent to join the Mobile Equipment Maintenance team. This person will be directly responsible for Cranes operation and maintenance, MM Facilities management, Welding, Tyres and Auxiliary Equipment (Light Vehicles, Small Generators, Light Plants, Air Compressors and Welding machines). The superintendent will direct and coordinate the safe and efficient maintenance of Barrick Pueblo Viejo JV assets, as well as the direction of activities in relation to the budget, contractor management and BI initiatives. Align with operations activities to meet the objectives and goals of the corporation, promoting a strong safety culture with the purpose of ensuring the achievement of established KPI's.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct the execution of maintenance activities of Auxiliary equipment in order to ensure efficient and effective operation of the equipment
  • Develop strategies for succession planning for the MM Site Support Services Department to ensure a sustainable progression of employees.
  • Define and ensure inventories of equipment are adequate to ensure optimum reliability and availability of equipment for operation.
  • Constantly monitor and improve the budget for the MM Site Support Services department to ensure costs are aligned to budget.
  • Develop BI projects for the MM Site Support Services group to ensure the optimization of the Maintenance of equipment, as well as, to efficiently raise the lifespan of the equipment.
  • Conduct constant (ongoing) review of the activities of contractors that provide services to the MM Site Support Services area, measuring productivity and efficiency to ensure compliance of the regulation and policies of PVDC, as well as implementing improvement strategies and cost reduction.
  • Ensure effective controls are in place to ensure the cranes, boom trucks and lifting equipment are in good condition and certified for use.
  • Manage/approve annual leave, sick leave, overtime etc. Complete annual performance reviews for all direct reports. Recruit positions as required and ensure that succession planning for key roles is in place.
  • Ensure effective and timely communications with all areas of the mine that require the service of mobile cranes, especially the process area which is the largest user. Maintain the number of equipment and people to meet all requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Technical or Electrical Competence
  • Technical skills in Maintenance Planning and Control of Assets
  • Ten (10) years of experience in Maintenance or Management, preferably in Mining related area
  • Five (5) years of experience in frontline supervision, preferably in Mining environment.
  • Technical English Proficiency
