British Columbia Securities Commission
Centrally located in downtown Vancouver, the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) strives to make the investment markets benefit the public – enabling people to achieve their financial goals, enterprises to grow, and British Columbia to thrive. Through smart rules, diligent oversight, strong enforcement and reliable guidance, we act as guardians of the province’s investment marketplace, striving to make BC a place where people can invest with confidence and companies can flourish. We are an independent agency accountable to the provincial legislature and the public through the Minister of Finance.
Do you enjoy professional challenges and want to play a key role in the regulation of British Columbia’s dynamic capital markets? As the Senior Geologist/Engineer you will conduct in-depth reviews and analysis of technical reports and other scientific and technical disclosure, including disclosure of mineral resources and mineral reserves. You will work with and provide expert advice to Commission staff, as well as interface with public companies and the mining industry on securities related matters. You will work closely with other regulatory agencies in Canada to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of British Columbia and Canadian capital markets.
You are a geologist or engineer (geological, mining, or metallurgical) with at least 10 years of broad based, post-graduation experience in mineral exploration or mining. You are familiar with the junior mining securities industry and have a good working knowledge of National Instrument 43-101. You have sound judgment, excellent analytical and communication skills, and good industry contacts. Your ability to solve problems independently, make decisions and work cooperatively is essential. You are a member or eligible for membership with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
The dynamic nature of securities markets, and regulation of them, results in a position offering numerous new challenges and opportunities to the right individual. We offer a challenging and rewarding work environment and a competitive compensation package.
