We are looking for fixed plant Mechanical/Reliability Engineer, who will be tasked with extracting maximum value from the site HME assets through the delivery of maintenance tactics optimisation, failure analysis, performance data analysis and execution of asset performance improvement projects.

Reporting to the Specialist HME- Bauxite and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Asset Management team, you will:

• Manage of asset performance reporting metrics
• Utilise data and reliability principles to identify asset performance improvement initiatives
• Be responsible for end to end project management of identified improvement initiatives
• Generate continual improvement of maintenance strategies and tactics
• Provide technical assistance to maintenance Execution teams
• Lead equipment failure investigation and management of subsequent corrective actions

What you will bring

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Demonstrated experience leading failure investigation projects utilising recognised root cause analysis techniques
• Demonstrated experience leading mechanical asset performance improvement projects in a heavy industrial/Mining environment
• Demonstrated experience creating and improving maintenance strategies and tactics.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office, SAP & Solid Works
• Effective written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills
• Understanding of reliability engineering and defect elimination concepts

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• Experience working within Heavy Mobile Mining Equipment preferable Caterpillar Equipment
• Reliability engineering experience. Ideally involving utilisation of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Life cycle cost modelling (LCCM), critical spares analysis, reliability block modelling and reliability analytics techniques
• Working knowledge of business improvement tools (such as 6 Sigma, process improvement and change management methodologies)

Where you will be working

Rio Tinto Weipa is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years.
