Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Business Partners are critical enablers of our networked organization who partner and collaborate with our stakeholders - the assets being at the core - to manage risk, eliminate or minimize harm and enhance value while delivering on the business priorities.

Reporting to the VP- HSE, you will be:

· Managing the HSE function on site, determine priorities, allocate resources and deliver assurance

· Coaching and influencing leadership on HSE aspects and zero harm culture

· Collaborating with site leadership, contractors, government and community stakeholders

· Implementing processes to effectively control the critical HSE risks

· Coaching, training and supporting the development of aspiring local HSE professionals, to provide a legacy of experience for the safe operation across California operations

· Translate business strategies, objectives and context into an HSE implementation plan

· Provide input as part of the leadership team to shape the business HSE strategy

· Proactively identify threats and opportunities to business objectives based on trends derived from data, conversations and observations



What you'll bring

· College/University Education: Science, engineering or related field

· Formal training in recognized incident investigation processes

· Solid experience in HSE leadership role

· Excellent engagement and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders internally and externally at all levels

· Experience in working with regulators and stakeholders within Rio Tinto and Community.

· Ability to anticipate future functional and operational business needs, and effectively deploy functional resources to achieve agreed outcomes

· Experience working in large manufacturing or processing facilities with a represented operational workforce

Where you will be working

The Jadar project is a greenfield Underground mine and process plant development located approximately 20km south-east of Loznica, Serbia. An underground mine, comprising of a production shaft, exhaust shaft, development levels, access to production stopes, mobile mining equipment and associated infrastructure. The process plant is designed to produce boric acid, lithium carbonate and sodium sulfate.

Jadar project commenced the feasibility study in Aug 2020. The project business strategy is to develop Jadar as a core, Tier 1 asset with synergies with Rio Tinto Business, enabling a green future and creating value for both Rio Tinto and Serbia. The project execution goal is to derive maximum value from Jadar for its stakeholders, while also delivering on the promised outcomes.
