Position Description:

We are looking for a Dewatering Superintendent at our Cortez operation. The Dewatering Superintendent will supervise, and support work performed by Water Management - Operations and Water Management - Well Services.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring water is removed prior to entering the open pit and/or extracting water out of the pit to enable mining to be undertaken
  • Supervision of Water Management Supervisors and Technicians.
  • Supervision of Contract personnel as required by project related activities.
  • Assume the lead role in well installations, dewatering operations, well services, water treatment and water disposal operations.
  • Coordinate and manage all activities and projects related to dewatering and water management.
  • Comply with state and federal health and safety regulations and all company policies and procedures
  • Assist with a public relations effort and for establishing and maintaining effective government agency contact
  • Responsible for environmental compliance in well, water treatment plant, and water disposal operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Geology, or Hydrogeology (or similar) required
  • Ten years of operating and engineering experience in progressively responsible positions
  • Must have five years supervisory experience
  • Must have three years dewatering experience
  • Familiarity with dewatering operations, knowledge of piping and surface pump systems submersible pump systems, and line shaft pump systems. Knowledge of well drilling and well installation. Knowledge of water treatment plant and water disposal operations.
