Reporting to the Supervisor, Safety and Loss Prevention, the Loss Prevention Officer (Casual) is responsible for matters related to health, safety, and site security. The work schedule will be varied and will consist of a combination of scheduled hours and on-call rotations.

You are someone that has excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, as well as the ability work effectively in a team environment and speak in front of large groups. Do to the fast paced and critical nature of this role strong trouble shooting, critical thinking, and decision making abilities are vital.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Respond in times of emergency and participate in mine rescue and site protection activities, including fire systems
  • Promote Health and Safety leadership among employees and contractors and support implementation of High Potential Risk Control and Occupational Health and Hygiene strategies
  • Facilitate training for Health and Safety programs and new hire orientations
  • Perform workplace monitoring and control access and egress to site
  • Provide first aid services and complete accurate first aid reports
  • Provide support to safety incident investigations, and health and safety programs, including confined space, hazardous energy isolation, and fall protection
  • Perform periodic health and safety inspections and participate in audits as required
  • Participate in the drug and alcohol program as a collector


Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • WorkSafeBC OFA Level III or equivalent
  • Class 5 Driver’s License with no restrictions
  • Strong digital literacy, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite®; Excel, Word, and Outlook
