Downer Power and Gas is a leading provider of end-to-end services, providing design, construction & maintenance solutions for Power & Gas retailers, metering asset and distribution network owners. We have recently commenced a contract to replace a large number of domestic gas meters with smart gas meters across the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Kapiti regions, and now have a need for a number of great people to join our project team.
The Role:
In this technically challenging role, you'll be a key member of our Gas Smart Meter Project team providing quality service and workmanship in carrying out the replacement of gas meters and some associated equipment on primarily domestic based gas meter systems. You will have a wide range of skills and can work independently to carry out these meter changes on a day-to-day basis. You will need to optimise the use of your (and Downer) resources and contribute to the successful completion of the Gas Smart Meter contract.
You'll enjoy working outdoors, doing physical and mechanical work where you will use both hand tools and test equipment to get the job done in a variety of conditions. You will need to be familiar with and follow strict safety procedures as your natural way of working.
About You:
As a suitably skilled Gas Technician you will offer the following skills and attributes:
Not someone who likes to be stuck inside behind a computer, you'll enjoy being hands on, working outside, and committed to getting the job done. Your previous work experience will also demonstrate a conscientious nature, quality focus and ability to work in both a team and independently,

We Offer:
This is an outstanding opportunity to work on an exciting long term project. We offer you the opportunity to join our diverse and inclusive culture, and be part of a great team working in a collaborative environment. We provide comprehensive training to meet the stringent skills criteria for the project, a competitive remuneration package reflective of your skills and experience, and all specialised equipment you need to do the job.
