Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Mining Team at their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO) in Papua New Guinea.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Technician - Surveying for a position on Lihir Island, PNG. Reporting to the Senior - Surveying, you will be required to provide assistance, operating of the survey equipment for surveying or field data collection and day to day surveying support.

The role will have responsibility to:
  • Ensures personal and team compliance with all company HSE requirements & policies including Fitness for Work.
  • Completes any HSE tasks only if the hazards and any potential consequences are understood and any corrections are firstly agreed by the relevant Supervisor.
  • Works constructively within a diverse group of people.
  • Delivers consistently on commitments and takes accountability for own development.
  • Assists the Senior Surveyors in conducting construction, engineering, and mine surveys.
  • Assists in maintaining survey equipment and vehicle.
  • Assists in maintaining field books and survey equipment logbooks.
  • Assists in file management.
  • Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities and identifies & reports any cost wastage within designated


Essential criteria
  • Certificate III in Spatial Science or ability to obtain one
  • RePL drone Pilot Licenses
  • Grade 12 Certificate


Desirable criteria
  • Need to demonstrate the level of understand of technology related changes that is affecting mining and what this field surveying is grasping it.
  • Operating surveying equipment, like dumpy, Total Stations, RTK GPS, ground penetration radars, Multirotor, VTOL and fixed wing RTK/PPK drones.
  • Assist in the storage and retrieval of basic spatial data
  • Servicing and maintenance of precision electronic surveying equipment
  • Familiarization with other department survey requirements through on the job exposure


The Requirements
  • Must be a Lihirian
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
