Downer New Zealand is a leading provider of integrated services. Our commitment to building long-term relationships and supporting our customers with high calibre services and solutions; the talents of our people; and consistent excellence in operational delivery sets us apart.

Wellington is the place to be if you are looking for work in Infrastructure. We are looking for an experienced Civil Foreperson to join our Construction crew in the capital. This is a brand new role as our crews expand in to carrying out work in Masterton.

What's in it for you?
  • Very competitive pay rate, plus overtime and other benefits
  • A company vehicle - tools of trade provided
  • Excellent opportunities for training and career progression
  • A fun, welcoming team working in a positive atmosphere
  • Modern machinery, with more new gear on its way
  • Job security!

About the role:

As the Foreperson you'll be leading a crew doing civil construction works, such as roading, and pavement construction. You will have all round duties from operating machinery to general labouring. This 'hands on' role will require you to provide leadership by planning, providing direction and controlling activities whilst working alongside the team in the field.

You will be expected to ensure that work is completed to the satisfaction of our customers and that all targets are met so if you are passionate about what you do this could be the next move in your career.

About you:

Along with your knowledge of working with Pavement Construction machinery and your ability to lead a team there are a few essentials, but don't stress too much if you don't tick them all off, we are prepared to train you:
  • Previous experience in a Civil Construction / Foreperson role
  • A class 2 full New Zealand drivers licence with WTR endorsements
  • Knowledge of and experienced in civil construction specifications and procedures
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders
  • Strong safety and quality focus

If you are keen, motivated and experienced, or have a genuine interest in a career in roading/civil infrastructure then we want to hear from you.
