About the role

We are looking for a BA Analyst for our growing Commercial Hub in Singapore. As part of a group wide restructuring, BA will now be integrated into each of our Product Groups including Commercial. These roles will support the development of the new BA team within Commercial Finance.

This role is a great opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders to provide advice to the commercial businesses in Sales & Marketing, Marine & Logistics, and Procurement, and to support the development and execution of strategic decision making.

Reporting to: Senior Manager Planning and Business Analysis
  • Provide analytical support for key commercial decisions, including:
    • Sales & Marketing activities, such as supporting the business case for material sales contracts or new sales strategies
    • Marine & Logistics activities, such as supporting the business case for new strategies including climate related changes
    • Procurement activities, supporting the negotiation mandate and execution of centrally managed purchases, such as heavy machinery equipment and fuel
    • Commercial wide decisions, such as evaluating and quantifying the benefit of downstream customer partnerships including looking through the ESG lens
    • Support the Commercial review and input into material capital investment decisions by the Group (working with other BA teams in Montreal, Perth and Brisbane)
  • Develop and maintain effective analytics and evaluation models (typically discounted cash flow models) to assess and develop business cases to support potential commercial opportunities and strategic initiatives
  • Prepare Commercial submissions to the Rio Tinto Group Investment Committee
  • Lead the internal reviews of Commercial decisions requiring CCO/COFO approval

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

· Finance/Economics/Business related University education

· Previous work experience in Sales & Marketing, Procurement, Big 4 Transaction Services or Investment Banking highly desirable (ideally with exposure to Business Analysis, Business Evaluation or Commercial teams)

· Outstanding financial evaluation and modelling expertise, including high levels of competence with Microsoft Excel

· Experience in commercial negotiations and knowledge of commercial and business planning systems

· Demonstrated ability to work in a global business across a variety of different teams and geographies

· Excellent co-ordinating and scheduling skills, including the ability to plan and manage a programme of work within defined parameters

· Ability to collect, assemble and appraise data from a variety of sources

· Dedication to deliver on commitments and achieve deadlines
