Purpose

Develop optimal drilling, loading and blast designs to reach pattern primary goals, always focused on the safety of the staff and equipment involved. Plan drill and blast short and medium range activities based on the mining sequence to reach the targets of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Align to and enforce Peñasquito standards /safety rules.
  • Carry out drill and blast weekly plans.
  • Carry out drill, load, and blast pattern designs.
  • Carry out drill and blast master plans per bench and per mine cut back.
  • Carry out continuous improvement projects through the whole drill and blast process.
  • Have a way with words and with effective communication.
  • Follow up to short, medium, and long-range plans.
  • Organize weekly blast review and optimization meetings.
  • Statistical data control and analysis of fragmentation, blasted material inventory and blast evaluation.
  • Follow up to special drill and blast improvement projects.


Requirements

  • Ability to work unsupervised and result oriented. (aligning to the strategy of its direct supervisor)
  • Adaptable to change.
  • Technical knowledge of drill and blast design, execution, analysis, and result optimization.
  • Analytical skills which conduct to accurate diagnosis.
  • Advanced Excel, AutoCAD knowledge.
  • Capable of making operational decisions.
  • Be able to work under pressure.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Strong safety and teamwork culture.
  • Proactive attitude.


Experience

  • 2 years of technical and operational drill and blast experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Open Pit mining operations.
  • Basic knowledge of drill and blast equipment.


Professional Education

  • Mining and Metallurgical Engineer, Mining Engineer, or related.
  • English (intermediate).
