Reporting to the Sulphide Leaching Plant (SLP) Production Superintendent, the Production Coordinator, Sulphide Leaching is accountable for coordinating and supporting the day-to-day performance of the plant to ensure that production objectives are achieved.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Manage unionized personnel including investigations, conflict resolution, setting objectives and reporting
  • Coordinate daily plant support activities by the utility crew (mobile equipment/luggers, filter frame refurbishment, snow removal/plant washdown, and operating/safety PM’s)
  • Provide support for daily maintenance activities through completion of permits, coordination of gas testing, preparation of confined spaces, and coordination of pipeline inspections
  • Coordinate monthly shutdown activities as per routine maintenance scheduling and planning strategy
  • Coordinate larger annual shutdown activities in conjunction with the Teck-wide shutdown schedule
  • Work with Maintenance Coordinator to prepare shutdown schedules, taking into account efficient use of resources and optimization of production windows/critical path
  • Communicate with Production Superintendent, Shift Leaders, and Group Leaders to assist in the various facets of planning and of scheduling shutdown and maintenance work
  • Investigate Operations’ needs, arranging for the required resources and integrating into weekly plans
  • Monitor work performed by outside contractors to ensure job quality, quantity and safe work practices
  • Contribute to cost control by assisting budget preparation, monitoring costs and identifying areas of cost reduction
  • Minimize plant down time and contribute to a continuous and trouble-free operation by coordinating plant maintenance and operations, selecting maintenance and plant betterment work for regular and major scheduled shutdowns and recommending mechanical improvements
  • Performs all other related duties as required


Qualifications:
  • 4-5 years of related experience in an industrial environment
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite of products, including MS Project
  • Knowledge of the mining industry
  • Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skill
