Responsibilities
•Maintain a safe, healthy, and clean environment by ensuring that safety values are present in all aspects of work execution.
•Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of the mine planning process.
•Pit optimization, design, phasing, and scheduling to optimize various metrics on a medium to life of mine scale.
•Coordination with Ore Control, Survey, Drill & Blast, Geology, Mining Operations, Mine Maintenance, and any upstream or downstream processes.
•Act as the company liaison for contract mining and mine projects and monitor progress.
•Design Pit, Bench, Dump, Leach Pad, Road, and Haulage profiles and cycle time analysis.
•Financial calculations for budgeting, reporting, and mine decision analysis.
•Evaluate effectiveness of own and other's work and make necessary changes to improve metrics.
•Work with other disciplines to calculate reserve and resources for SEC and 43-101 reporting.
•Production and operational performance reporting and reconciliation support.
•Guide and mentor and supervise junior engineer, ore control geologist(s) and surveyors.
•Work requires originality and judgment in the independent evaluation and resolution of problems.
•All other duties assigned.
Requirements
•Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering or other related field with equivalent experience preferred.
•Technical background and experience in long and short-range planning, ore control, survey, drill and blast, and road design preferred.
•A minimum of 5 years of experience in open pit engineering preferred.
•Work independently with minimal supervision required.
•Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership qualities required.
•Proficient with data analytics and design tools including Minesight, AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.
•2+ years of supervision in a technical services environment preferred.
•Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
