Position: Accounts Payable Supervisor

Work Location: Fortescue Centre, East Perth

Roster: Monday to Friday

As the Accounts Payable Supervisor, you're someone who is passionate, honest, enthusiastic, and willing to step up to the challenge of being part of an innovative and achievement driven organisation, leading by example.

Reporting to the Manager, Category and Procurement Services this role is responsible for leading the Accounts Payable (AP) team from both a people and process leadership perspective. This role is accountable for execution of the accounts payable function and development / implementation of efficient and effective AP processes whilst working across Procurement and Finance functions.

This exciting opportunity requires someone with proven ability to lead, coach and develop a team. Good communication skills with stakeholders both internally at Fortescue and externally with suppliers is essential. A track record of identification of process gaps and opportunities, the ability to understand root causes and put corrective actions in place to drive higher performance in a sustainable manner is required.

The Accounts Payable Supervisor should have a solid background in AP processes and how they integrate into the Procurement function and the greater business. They must possess good numeracy skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise whilst maintaining governance standards.

Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

  • Leading and developing an Accounts Payable team for performance now, and succession planning for the future including training, coaching and career development for the team
  • Ensure Accounts Payable outcomes and metrics achieve required targets, stretching to improve each and every day
  • Managing priorities and responding to internal and external customer queries, including systems and process queries
  • Working cooperatively with Procurement, Finance and Treasury to ensure individual and group performance goals/objectives are met for timing and quality
  • Managing the 3-way match process using systems to run efficiently with scale
  • Building, checking and approving payment runs
  • Providing recommendations for improving Accounts Payable processes and systems, and implementing them with support across procurement

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience of a medium sized team
  • Advanced knowledge of Accounts Payable process and governance requirements to prevent fraud
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP, Ariba and Readsoft
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Understanding of broader purchase to pay processes
  • Good numeracy skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, determine priorities and organise work to meet objectives and deal with issues.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
