Superintendent Aboriginal Development & Diversity

Work Location: Chichester Hub

Roster: 4D/3R - FIFO ex Perth

An exciting opportunity currently exists for a passionate and motivated person to join our Fortescue People team as a Superintendent Aboriginal Development & Diversity based at the Chichester Hub. Reporting to the Fortescue People Manager, this role will drive the achievement of Fortescue's Diversity & Inclusion strategy, as well as our Aboriginal Development strategy for the Chichester Hub. The successful candidate will strive to achieve Fortescue's diversity strategy, including our Aboriginal Development vision of employ, empower and excel. Employ, empower, excel is about providing Aboriginal people with the opportunity to be recruited, developed, retained and promoted within Fortescue and to deliver thriving communities.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Become a strategic advisor to our Chichester Hub senior leadership team to promote and support a more diverse and inclusive workplace and embed a culture of inclusion
  • Lead a team of committed people to drive sustainable projects which support both site and community engagement
  • Work closely with Fortescue's recruitment team to collaboratively ensure the success of diverse recruitment programs
  • Drive excellence in Aboriginal and female engagement and retention as well as people from a range of diverse groups within our business by creating strong connections with the workforce and ensuring retention strategies are in place
  • Develop and maintain excellent external stakeholder relationships in order to build a culture that supports employment, engagement and inclusion of diverse candidates.
  • Deliver a successful Vocational Training and Employment Centre (VTEC) graduate program for the Chichester hub
  • Lead a range celebrations in support of diverse groups within Fortescue including but not limited to NAIDOC Week

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Significant experience working in similar role
  • Experience working with, along with a knowledge of Aboriginal people, culture and history
  • Experience leading initiatives to retain and develop Aboriginal and female talent, as well as creating an inclusive work environment where all diverse people feel safe
  • Experience in providing strategic advice to senior leadership on a range of diversity and development matters
  • Demonstrated leadership experience motivating teams to achieve exceptional outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to positively influence and interact with a range of stakeholders
  • A personal alignment with Fortescue's values
