Purpose

Support the Full Potential (Continuous Improvement) Program for Porcupine operations. In total 2 underground mines, 1 open pit mine and 1 processing facility. Develop a continuous improvement culture aligned with the site, region and corporate objectives and targets.

Essential Duties

  • Engage in strategic analysis and planning for continuous improvement initiatives and provide guidance to the mining operations to ensure the Full Potential Program is aligned.
  • Facilitate the analysis of productivity and financial data in a fashion to provide guidance to operations on productivity improvements and cost avoidance.
  • Support the creation of project teams, aligned with the Full Potential Program to adequately address the high priority improvement opportunities.
  • Support the teams to ensure the baselines are established and results are measured, monitored, communicated and controlled.
  • Promote the use of standard procedures and policies and encourage the development of improved procedures, guidelines and standards
  • Update project databases and business systems to improve their accuracy and efficiency of use in decision making.
  • Coach, mentor and motivate teams to achieve Full Potential targets.
  • Leads by example and ensures the teams are living the Newmont values.
  • Ensures compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • Works with and interacts well with other groups, such as Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, H&S, Human Resources, External Relations and Technical Services.
  • Ensures compliance with all provincial and federal laws for safety, employment and environment.

Training & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in mining, mechanical, chemical, metallurgical or geotechnical disciplines. Eventually available to be licensed in the province of Ontario.
  • Keen business sense toward maximizing cash flow, maximizing net asset value, minimizing unit costs, and maximizing earnings.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.


Working Conditions

  • This position is located at Newmont's Porcupine mine site near Timmins, ON.
  • In this position, you will work a 5x2 schedule. As such, if you do not live near the site, we will require you to relocate.
