Gold Fields - St Ives is currently seeking a Senior Engineer: Mine Production to join their Underground Team at Hamlet.

Reporting to the Unit Manager: Underground Mining, you will facilitate the safe and optimal extraction of gold from underground mining operations. In compliance with site Environmental and Safety Standards, you will be responsible for all mining aspects including the development and implementation of production plans in line with short to medium term planning targets.

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and would require the incumbent to be residential in Kalgoorlie or Kambalda or Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of weekly, monthly and quarterly production plans in line with operational targets.
  • Supervision of stope design process and subsequent drill and blast plans to maximise recovery and minimise dilution.
  • Ensure business success by developing, implementing and recording mine information to ensure safe and economic target delivery.
  • Reconciliation of mined plan verses actual to identify improvement areas.
  • Direct and lead all members of the technical and operational mining team and ensure goal unity through concise communication.
  • Actively identifying risks and threats to safely achieving targets and develop, establish and manage programs to ensure risk elimination/minimisation.
  • Apprising the Underground Manager of issues that may affect safe and efficient production through frequent communication in an appropriate manner.
  • Enhancing the capability of the business to achieve improved performance and growth by actively contributing to business and cultural improvement initiatives, encouraging team members to participate and identify barriers to goal achievement.
  • Act as the Deputy Underground Manager when required.


Factors to your success include;

  • WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency
  • Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
  • Supervisory or Management Training
  • More than 7 years underground engineering experience, with exposure to all production phases, preferably gold
  • Exposure to contract and owner mining environments
  • Exposure to Microsoft office and mining software such as Vulcan, Deswik and Deswik Scheduler
