The Role: Principal HSE Assurance

An exciting new role has become available for a Principal HSE Assurance to join our Corporate HSE department located in Gunnedah, NSW. Flexible work options and base location will be considered for the right candidate. Reporting to the Group HSE Manager Business Partnership the role represents a unique and rewarding opportunity for you to use your experience and creativity to establish a new customer focused team. You will be responsible for the continued development, maintenance and implementation of the Risk Management Standard for all operating mine sites and future projects.

To be successful in the role you will:
  • Develop a companywide HSE audit and assurance program from bottom up
  • Provide technically robust and cost effective recommendations to address findings commensurate to risk
  • Engage key customers by coaching and mentoring in the application of assurance processes
  • Engage deep Subject Matter Expertise in the execution of the audit and assurance program
  • Input into the development of WHC HSE 5 year plan ensuring there is clear integration with assurance findings and improvement initiatives
  • Provide direct support to the maintenance and improvement of group wide HSE Systems
  • Support the Principal Risk in determining the effectiveness of material risk control implementation at operating sites
  • Lead, coach or participate in event investigations to ensure effective investigation outcomes and response
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to HSE policies and practices, proactively identifying risks and hazards to continuously improve WHC HSE performance

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science, Environmental Science, Workplace Health & Safety or other suitable qualification related to auditing (preferred)
  • Experience in HSE or Auditing roles within heavy industry / mining (preferred) Auditing process execution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to engage and influence at multiple levels in the organisation focusing on customer requirements
