Who we're looking for:

We are looking for an Asset Protection Lead to provide leadership through the development and delivery of the Security strategy at our Red Chris operation,and to ensure appropriate operational security controls are in place. Reporting to the Superintendent Health & Safety you will lead the implementation of asset protection standards, to safeguard the integrity of company personnel, property, assets and reputation within the laws of Canada. Responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensures any loss and damage to NML property is prevented by monitoring access and egress to the mine site, plant and other installations as required.
  • Provide support during emergency response situations to ensure they are conducted in a safe, effective and timely manner.
  • Adheres to the Newcrest Code of Conduct and the Newcrest Values and Human Rights Principles.
  • Ensures all personnel, visitors and contractors comply with site HSE and security requirements
  • Lead the security team and provide feedback on security deficiencies and /or security breaches to site management
  • Makes appropriate decisions in line with best work practices in security and surveillance processes

The successful applicant will be a strategic and proactive thinker with strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills. You will have knowledge of developments in the security industry that relate to asset protection and be able to coach, influence and mentor the team with your experience and motivational skills. In addition, you will have the following skills and experience:
  • A minimum of 8 years working experience across the resources industry in a senior security role and/or Police or Military equivalent
  • In depth knowledge of physical and electronic security practices and their applications
  • Knowledge of the United Nations Voluntary Principals on Human Rights for Security is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of gold processing and gold security is highly desirable
  • Ability to liaise effectively with external government agencies
  • Sufficient Legal, Safety & Risk legislation knowledge
