Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a Dam Safety Engineer to support our growing energy practice. This position will be based in Tampa, FL.

This role will support the dam integrity during the decommissioning of a power plant in Tampa Florida. This role monitors the huge embankment dam that holds cooling water surrounding the power plant. If a structure is dropped too fast the vibration can cause the dam to break. The person in this role will observe and document. We are there to protect the dam while the power plants are being demolished. Rest of time is working on really cool things!

As the successful candidate, you will

• Develop and oversee dam safety related geotechnical evaluations of dams, monitoring and testing programs, and analysis of results;
• Manage the progress and development of remedial designs of earth and rock fill embankment dams, concrete gravity dams, and various other water-impounding structures;
• Responsible for report preparation, able to prepare or direct completion of technical documents including descriptions of investigations, results, conclusions and recommendations for review by senior staff

You bring to the role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering required. Master’s in Science is preferable;
• 3-8+ years of demonstrable experience in structure analysis
• Proficient with design software (e.g. GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, etc.), Rocscience, AllPile, and/or HEC-RAS, AutoCAD and ArcGIS software
• Critical thinking and good communication, including writing technical reports
  
• Experience working with contractors for demolition.
