An exciting new role has become available for a Principal Risk HSE to join our Corporate HSE department located in Gunnedah, NSW. Flexible work options and base location will be considered for the right candidate. Reporting to the Group HSE Manager Business Partnership the role represents a unique and rewarding opportunity for you to use your experience and creativity to establish a new customer focused team. You will be responsible for the continued development, maintenance and implementation of the Risk Management Standard for all operating mine sites and future projects.

To be successful in the role you will:
  • Embed a culture of risk based decision making into the company HSE Strategy
  • Establish strong relationships with operation and executive leadership teams
  • Engage and enable key customers at operations and projects by providing deep functional knowledge and coaching and mentoring in the application of HSE risk and management systems with potential to impact to WHC strategic outcomes
  • Facilitation, coaching and monitoring of risk management systems and controls within the business
  • Depending on scale lead, coach or participate in risk assessments to ensure effective risk based outcomes
  • Participate in HSE audit and assurance activities as required
  • Contribute to the development of 5 year plan ensuring there is clear integration with Risk Management outcomes and the HSE Strategy.
  • Input risk performance into Group wide reporting, data visualisation and analytics
  • Lead, coach or participate in event investigations to ensure effective investigation outcomes and response
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to HSE policies and practices, proactively identifying risks and hazards to continuously improve WHC HSE performance

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science, Environmental, Risk Management or other suitable qualification (preferred)
  • Experience in risk heavy industry / mining (preferred)
  • Risk Management development and implementation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to engage and influence large and diverse teams at multiple levels in the organisation focusing on customer requirements
