Reporting to the Senior Lead, Regulatory Approvals for the FRX Project, the Lead, Regulatory Approvals responsible for advancing the provincial and federal environmental assessment and permitting processes to acquire all necessary regulatory approvals for the construction and operation of an expansion to one of our existing coal operations.
To succeed in this role we require someone with excellent attention to detail and strong applicable knowledge of federal and provincial regulatory approvals practices and regulations, especially within British Columbia. Someone who is a self-starter, has excellent planning and organizational skills, and can prioritize demands. Someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively connect with internal and external parties to identify and resolve issues.
In this role you have the opportunity to engage with departments all across our operations and work on diverse projects within our group. You will grow in your environmental knowledge and have the chance to progress your career within the environmental group and our operations.

Responsibilities :
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Contribute to and implement regulatory approvals and engagement strategies and plans
- Assist in the management and execution of the work of multi-disciplinary consulting teams including environmental baseline programs, impact assessments, and related budget, scope management, and schedule
- Support the development of regulatory approvals applications, including inputs to project scoping and prefeasibility studies, identifying SERA risks and strategies to mitigate risks, executing direction for application content, supporting external pre-application meetings, and coordinating the preparation of the applications
- Leading the coordination of responses to reviewer comments and negotiation of draft permit conditions
- Cultivate a culture of strong integration and collaboration with mine operations, project engineering teams, and subject matter specialists
- Support engagement with regulators, Indigenous nations, and local communities
- Ensure alignment of regulatory approvals work with social responsibility and regional environmental programs, such as monitoring, water quality modelling, and cumulative effects
Qualifications :
- Degree or diploma in Forestry, Biology, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
- Minimum six years demonstrated ability in regulatory approvals, impact assessment, and project management in the natural resource sector, preferably in mining
- Specific knowledge and experience with permitting under the following B.C. legislation is an asset: Mines Act, Water Sustainability Act, Environmental Management Act, and Forest Act
- Experience in engaging and collaborating with Indigenous nations, regulatory agencies, and other communities of interest
- Strong digital literacy using Microsoft Office Suite®; specifically Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word
