Description

Responsible for management and oversight of strategic Metallurgical projects.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in Metallurgical performance of processing plants either through process evaluation, expansion projects, or through deployment of leading edge technology and its transfer
  • Participate in sound technical Metallurgical processing due diligence exercises on acquisitions, mergers, and partnerships
  • Promote Industry Best Practices at operating companies across Freeport-McMoRan
  • Conduct post mortem review and document lessons learned on all projects executed
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of production planning and forecasting
  • Responsible for strategic planning
  • Participate in and manage Metallurgical expansion projects
  • Perform process reviews, ore characterization, and deployment of leading edge technology
  • Ensure technology transfer
  • Perform production planning and forecasting
  • Perform other tasks as assigned


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry or closely related field and ten (10) years of experience in the Metallurgical field
  • Expertise in crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering, materials handling, process control, asset management, project management, and operations management
  • Knowledge of Solution Chemistry
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both, oral and in writing
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Energetic and ability to execute projects


Preferred

  • Experience developing and executing geometallurgy programs
  • Familiarity with JKSimmet or equivalent minerals processing models
  • Experience with metallurgical accounting and mass balancing
  • Process flowsheet development for metallurgical expansion projects
  • Experience with advanced analytics and digital twin modelling


Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator
  • Occasionally work may be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see
  • May be required to occasionally lift moderately heavy objects, up to thirty (30) pounds
  • Position will require approximately four (4) weeks of travel per quarter to job sites, some of which are located at high altitudes
  • Adherence to safety rules and procedures on at jobsite is required
  • Inspection and testing of jobsite infrastructure will require mobility through fixed plant facilities with steel walkways and stairs to multiple levels
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
