The position will perform professional accounting work including compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data. Requires an understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles and bookkeeping experience. May include any or all the following: ledgers and preparation of journal entries, fixed asset or inventory accounting, preparation of trial balance or financial statements and cost accounting. The position requires a recognized CPA Certification and familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

JOB PURPOSE

Performs professional accounting work including compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data. Requires an understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles and bookkeeping experience. May include any or all the following: ledgers and preparation of journal entries, fixed asset or inventory accounting, preparation of trial balance or financial statements, cost accounting, bank account reconciliation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Management and Control: Work within established systems to deliver prescribed outcomes for a designated area of financial control.

Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using pre-set tools, methods and formats. Involves working independently.

Data Management: Manage basic aspects of the data management system with guidance from senior colleagues. This includes being responsible for developing or operating basic elements of the data management systems to deliver prescribed outcomes.

Insights and Reporting: Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports.

Document Preparation: Edit document in line with organizational style guidelines and prepare information for publication.

Information and Business Advice: Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.

Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Protocols: Contribute to the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.

Operational Compliance: Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards. OR Identify, within the team, patterns of non-compliance with the organization's policies and procedures, and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.

Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Health, Safety and Environment: Follow the organization's HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions, to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve these, escalating serious issues as appropriate.

Performance Management: Develop and propose own performance objectives; take appropriate actions to ensure achievement of agreed objectives, using the organization's performance management systems to improve personal performance. OR Manage and report on team performance; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project / account team members and hold them accountable for achieving these, taking appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team / personal objectives.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Accredited four year degree in Finance/Accounting or related field. Master's Preferred.

Certified Public Accountant Certification.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

5-10 years' experience as a Financial Accountant or related position within an industrial environment. Mining environment highly regarded.

Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.

Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes (13 months to 3 years).
