Our Red Chris mine is located on the traditional territory of the Tahltan and we encourage qualified applicants from the local communities to apply. We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George and Smithers.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for a Materials Laboratory Technician to complete geotechnical materials lab analysis on soils and aggregate (i.e. density, gradation, proctor, ABA testing) as well as manage the data and reporting of the testing results. This is a temporary 6 to 8-month position beginning in April 2021. A permanent position may be available upon completion of this term dependent on project requirements. In addition, you will be required to:

• Promote and participate in a safe work culture, following all site operating procedures
• Catalogue and maintain inventory of laboratory materials and supplies
• Document control of sample receipts and results
• Sample handling and storage control
• Conduct field level soils classification and sampling from drill holes, test pits, and borrow pits
• Assist in other activities such as construction monitoring, surveying, pump/pond monitoring, pond sounding as requested
• Assist in the operation of the Cyclone Sand Plant, as required

The successful candidate should have solid experience with geotechnical materials sampling, field and lab quality control testing methods, ASTM standards and procedures, as well as QA/QC experience on large earthworks projects. In addition to this you will have the following skills and experience:

• Mining Technology, Civil Technology Diploma or similar combination of experience/training
• 2 years industry experience, preferably mining or heavy civil earthworks construction
• Demonstrated knowledge of geotechnical materials testing and mineral processing
• Strong computer skills, MS Office, SharePoint, MS access skills would be desirable
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision once familiar with requirements
• A team player that works well with others
• Strong oral and written communication skills
