This position is located in North Bay, Ontario. This is not a remote position and the successful applicant will be required to work out of the North Bay location.

The Contract Administrator is the primary contact at the bid stage in reviewing Request for Proposal/Request for Tender documents from potential clients, providing commercial and general information for tenders, and providing general contract support to the Project Controls and Operations personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reviewing Client bid documents for quoting Fixed Price, Time and Material, Target, Cost Reimbursable and Lump Sum/Turnkey contracts and advising on the suitability of each based on the quality of bid information received
  • Prepare documents for Fixed Price, Time and Material, Target, Cost Reimbursable and Lump Sum/Turnkey contracts
  • Review professional services agreements and/or compile professional services contracts
  • Review and compile non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements
  • Review internal supply chain for compliance with Redpath policies
  • Review subcontract agreements for compliance with primary agreements
  • Provide risk analysis on the various types of contracts at the bidding stage
  • Provide commercial and general review clarifications and special conditions to the estimating and/or operations team
  • Assist Manager, Contracts in negotiation at the post-tender stage
  • Create contract crib sheets for area managers, project controllers and project accounting personnel
  • Assist with contract related document controls including the maintenance of various contract registers relating to correspondence, drawings, changes, issues, decisions, insurances, etc.
  • Maintain training modules and participate in classroom presentations
  • Travel to various mine sites and offices may be required (domestic and international)


Education and Experience

Required: Post-secondary education in Business, Legal or Mining

PMP or equivalent Project related experience

Preferred: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Legal, Business or equivalent

Required: 3-5 years' in contract administration; preference will be to candidates with experience in a major construction project environment with an EPC or EPCM Company

Experience in administering Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Target, Cost Reimbursable and Lump Sum mining related invoicing

Preferred: 5-10 years' in contract administration with experience in mining or construction and project management

Candidates with a greater level of experience may be considered for a revised job title of Senior Contracts Specialist.

Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Comprehensive computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Hard Dollar, Primavera, SharePoint and Hard Dollar
  • Ability to liaise with internal/external clients at all levels
  • Experience with legal and mining terminology
  • Ability to work accurately with figures
  • Capability to coordinate multiple issues with competing priorities
  • Bilingualism, French and English, is an asset
