It's an exciting time to be a part of Newcrest's growth journey as we expand our operations both locally and abroad. At Cadia you will play a part in the expansion of our Tier 1 operation developing Cadia into one of the largest, safest, most cost effective and technologically advanced block caving mines in the world. Currently we are undertaking stage three of Cadia's mine life strategy by further developing our underground mine to include its 3 rd panel, as well as increasing our ore handling and processing capability.

As a company, we are highly skilled at identifying and turning large-scale deposits into Tier 1 assets with one of the lowest all in sustaining costs in the mining industry. Our extensive experience in block caving, processing, utilising the latest technology and techniques positions us as a world leader in our field.

Operations near and far

Cadia Valley Operation is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area's occupied by winery's, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we're looking for

We are seeking a forward thinking and motivated Safety Systems Advisor to provide support for the line management implementation of Safety Management Systems ensuring compliance with state legislation, corporate HSEC requirements and industry best practices.

Reporting to Superintendent - Health & Safety, key deliverables of this role include:
  • Maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) and ensure that it is reviewed as per site procedures or following relevant safety events and triggers with key stakeholders
  • Provide support and advice on the regular updates of Cadia Standards, Principal Hazard Management Plans and Principal Control Plans
  • Conduct contractor onboarding and identify training requirements for contractors working under the Cadia SMS
  • Conduct of field inspections with Newcrest staff and contracting partners working under the Cadia SMS
  • Maintain legal requirements database that covers all aspects of Health and Safety and ensure it is regularly updated, communicated and audited


Our ideal candidate will be a safety-focused professional with a can-do attitude and strong commitment to cultural change initiatives. In addition, you will also possess:
  • Proven experience in safety systems, auditing, incident reporting and investigation within the Mining Industry
  • Tertiary qualification or Diploma in Work Health & Safety desirable
  • Working knowledge of the NSW Work Health and Safety Legislation
  • Good level of understanding incident investigation techniques along with incident management systems, and operational risk management in mining or heavy industry (ground or surface)
  • Adept in the use of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
