At Cadia you will play a part in the expansion of our Tier 1 operation developing Cadia into one of the largest, safest, most cost effective and technologically advanced block caving mines in the world. Currently we are undertaking stage three of Cadia's mine life strategy by further developing our underground mine to include its 3 rd panel, as well as increasing our ore handling and processing capability.

Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area's occupied by winery's, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we're looking for

Reporting into the Commercial Manager for Cadia Operations, this role is the primary functional lead for procurement activities on at Cadia Valley Operations. It's primary focus is to lead procurement activities and negotiations with external parties and to engage with Cadia contract owners to determine optimum price, scope and demand levers to deliver optimum value outcomes for Cadia Valley Operations. In addition, you will oversee the overall Cadia Procurement and Contract Management functions to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective operational control and governance. The key deliverable from the role will be to establish pricing agreements and negotiate contracts for services to ensure maximum value for money on behalf of Newcrest and Cadia Valley Operations.

The Principal - Procurement and Contracts will work with key Cadia and Group stakeholders in order to understand their requirements, compile specifications, facilitate vendor selection and negotiate agreements - utilising Newcrest tools and processes. The position will be expected to collaborate and share information within, and across, departments and support various working groups. The role will also be responsible for building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers to ensure ongoing value is delivered to Cadia Valley Operations through these contractual relationships.

The successful incumbent will be tertiary qualified in a business, legal or engineering discipline, with extensive mining experience preferred. You will have strong demonstrated experience in supply chain optimisation, negotiation capability and experience in delivering value enhancing outcomes.

Equally, you'll be structured and well organised with exceptional time management skills and your stakeholder management and interpersonal skills will be impeccable.
