At Cadia you will play a part in the expansion of our Tier 1 operation developing Cadia into one of the largest, safest, most cost effective and technologically advanced block caving mines in the world. Currently we are undertaking stage three of Cadia's mine life strategy by further developing our underground mine to include its 3 rd panel, as well as increasing our ore handling and processing capability.

Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area's occupied by winery's, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we're looking for

We are seeking an experienced and professional person to lead the Site Asset Operations Centre (SAOC). The role will require you to lead a team to manage hazards, provide support & services to underground, surface and processing operations teams at Cadia.

Reporting to the Manager-Strategy, Planning & Performance, you will be responsible for ensuring high quality data collection, reporting and analysis to support the operation. You will also support HSESR onsite through emergency call response, community hotline and environmental escalation and reporting. Your role will also include implementing projects and being able to clearly articulate the objectives & goals aligned with safe production.

The key responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
  • Providing leadership to the SAOC to drive site production, safely and consistently achieve target outputs in a responsible, sustainable and cost-effective manner aligned with Newcrest and Cadia strategies
  • Working closely with site leaders and providing them with timely and accurate information
  • Highlighting issues that arise and follow escalation procedures to achieve resolution.
  • Supporting and promoting a business improvement culture
  • Demonstrate a high regard for safety and be willing to challenge the status quo with regards to safety standards - you will be responsible for various processes which keep people in the field safe

The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader, ideally with a background in operational roles involving Mining, Minerals Processing and/or fixed plant experience.

You will also possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:
  • Proactive approach to your work with demonstrated experience in solving mining and/or processing issues
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Strong active listening and interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution and training.
  • Exposure to DCS, Pitram or similar experience
