We are looking for a Manager Smelter Production to lead a team of Supervisors, Coordinators and Operators responsible for production of the Flash Smelting and Flash Converting Furnaces at the Kennecott Copper Smelter.

Leading operations is one of the most important jobs in our business and comes with a huge amount of responsibility. We need you to motivate, inspire and keep your people safe and well. This is a great opportunity to utilize your leadership and processing experience in a supportive team environment. Reporting to the Hot Metals Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Safe and efficient operation of the Flash Smelting and Flash Converting process
• Coaching and developing the Operations Supervisors, Coordinators and Operators in the department
• Champion Safety, Health and Environmental practices by leading in a way that puts the well-being of our people and environment first.
• Building a workplace environment based on respect, transparent communication and cooperation.
• Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the team in the implementation of improvement initiatives
• Developing, monitoring and controlling approved budget to deliver cost effective operations that meet the business needs.

What you'll bring

• 5+ years leading operations in a complex processing plant
• Proven record of excellence in safety leadership and a commitment to safety as a personal value
• Demonstrated experience leading large teams by engaging employees and create a culture of mutual respect
• Strong technical aptitude in a relevant field
• Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders at all levels of the organization

It will be beneficial if you have:

• Knowledge or qualifications in smelting or molten metal operations

Where you will be working

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
