Senior Exploration Geologist

Alien Metals Ltd is an exploration and mining project developer company listed on AIM (Alternative Investment Market) of the London Stock Exchange (LSE: UFO). The Company’s focus is on precious and base metal commodities.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a small and focussed management team in Perth, Western Australia as a Senior Exploration Geologist. This exciting position will expose and involve the successful candidate in managing and communicating the company’s exploration geological efforts and exploration results to Senior Management and an experienced Board.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage the company’s exploration geological efforts; and communicate effectively geological information - exploration results to Board, Senior Management
• Support the compilation of geologically related AIM announcements.
• In association with the technical team design, plan and budget exploration programs to explore across the companies portfolio of projects.
• In association with the technical team, design/implement practical strategies for discovery of economic deposits at the company’s projects
• Ensure necessary exploration geological, analytical, resource, metallurgical data are progressively accumulated at appropriate levels of confidence including improving geological understanding of mineralisation controls at the company’s projects.
• Generate exploration targets and make discoveries by systematically evaluating available datasets, executing agreed exploration programs to test them and confirm exploration models. 
• Providing medium to long term direction (6 months to 2 years) for the testing of prioritized, early-stage targets and their associated work programs on the exploration leases.
• Ensure tenement data management is maintained with the existing geological team with all new exploration results being documented into the company’s database.
• Complete various project work working as part of the Exploration team.
• Effective planning and communication with the Geology team, consulting technical experts (Geophysics, Geochem, Geological consultants), Government Department and Business Partners to ensure that all Exploration activities are aligned with company goals and plans
• Optimisation of exploration budgets through detailed analysis of results and revision of geological / exploration models
• Effective organisation, data and cost management to ensure that exploration programmes are accurately measured, tracked and reconciled
• Prioritisation of exploration targets
• Effective integration of new drilling data with historic data sets to optimise geological and grade estimation models
• Ensuring that adequate software skills are attained to facilitate the timely completion of data manipulation and analysis
• Constantly seek to improve and streamline all procedures and processes while maintaining a product of the required quality
• Ensure Exploration and Project Geologists are effectively coached and supervised to minimise the effects of drill hole deviation for Exploration programmes and over drilling areas that are clearly of limited economic importance based on initial results
• Liaison with traditional owners and their representatives

Key qualifications, skills and experience required for the role:

• Formal qualifications in Geology/Geoscience with extensive related field experience
• A minimum of 10 years industry experience within several different geologic environments
• Experience in gold/copper/silver and Iron Ore exploration would be advantageous
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on Continuous Improvement (CI)
• Dynamic, self-motivated, a determination to excel and a commitment to action

• Experience in budgeting skills
• A demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• A demonstrated ability to supervise drilling contractors
• A demonstrated ability to supervise geological personnel
• Modelling Software proficiency (Surpac, Micromine, Leapfrog, GIS packages, Vulcan)
• Administration and Microsoft Office Skills
