Purpose

This position ensures Newmont's compliance with Environmental permits and plans. The successful candidate will be responsible for provide direct environmental support to CC&V's operational teams including: management of air permit compliance, hazardous waste management, drafting reports and permit applications, interacting with regulators and external stakeholders, and environmental project management.

Essential Duties

  • Complete inspections and audits and maintain records for environmental compliance
  • Coordinate environmental compliance, permitting, training, activities with site operations teams
  • Develop and implement S&ER programs, procedures, and employee training
  • Prepare environmental compliance reports
  • Prepare permit modification and renewal applications
  • Evaluate the severity of accidents incidents, their effect on the environment, and determine proper response or escalation
  • Collaborate and meet with environmental regulators, local government agencies, and other stakeholders regularly
  • Manage environmental projects, contractors, and consultants
  • Manage internal and external environmental audits
  • Development and execution of environment-related management plans

Training & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related preferred
    • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience or 5+ years of directly applicable experience
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Environmental regulations and NEPA, RCRA, required
  • Experience with mining Environmental, Air and Hazardous Waste regulations preferred
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely while following applicable safety regulations and procedures


Working Conditions

  • The position is located in the United States at the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine, located in Teller County
  • The work environment is located above 10,000 ft. which requires working at high altitude. The successful candidate must pass a high-altitude medical assessment prior to being offered employment at Cripple Creek
  • Position may be required to travel to, and assist other sites in the region


The salary range offered for this role is $ 66,000 - 86,600 . The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
