The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Maintenance (PS) with core experience and knowledge as a millwright/welder in the Planner/Scheduler’s role to join our Ontario Operations Department in Port Colborne.

The job holder will continuously improve the work team (crew) performance through effective use of established processes and procedures at the Port Colborne operation. In this role, as a Supervisor, Maintenance (PS) you will be accountable for planning and scheduling primarily for millwright/welder plant maintenance work but not necessarily limited to that discipline.

Although previous experience in mining or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that’s what makes us great!

Education:
  • The ideal candidate will have a college diploma or university degree in a related industrial field or a university degree in a related engineering discipline is preferred.
  • A valid Industrial trade certificate for millwright/welder in the province of Ontario is preferred.
  • Generic Supervisor Common Core (770141) is preferred.

Experience:
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience working within SAP and the Prometheus add-on.
  • The ideal candidate would have a minimum 3 years of experience with planning and scheduling and procurement.
  • The ideal candidate has demonstrated leadership qualities with a minimum 3 years of experience supervision of trades personnel.
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the millwright/welder trades.
  • The ideal candidate will have some multi-discipline trades knowledge and experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with Microsoft Office Products and Microsoft Project.

Requirements & Accountabilities:
  • Required to work Monday to Friday, 8 hours day shift.
  • Required to work on location, at site, both office and field work.
  • Adhere to maintenance business processes in Maintenance Planning and Control (MPC) by using approved systems (SAP, Prometheus, etc.), tools and standards.
  • Establish and maintain work relationships with the various key plant stakeholders including supervisors, other planners/schedulers, superintendents, etc.
  • Execute “Planning and Scheduling Work” element of the process for all types of work orders - systematic and non-systematic maintenance. This includes shutdown (PMP) and ERM related work.
  • Coordinate and facilitate all planning/scheduling management routines.
  • Organize and manage regular routine maintenance planning scheduling and control, maintenance execution, operating, team meetings.
  • Manage the daily backlog.
  • Plan/Schedule work orders for execution prior to the Required End Date for the various disciplines including Maintenance, Operations and Contractor work centers.
  • Review the work order status (and any other work defined for their area) daily:
    • To plan/schedule newly approved, urgent or emergency work
    • To assist in setting an integrated plan and schedule
    • To track upcoming work
  • Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful planning/scheduling of work orders for completion by their Required End Date.
  • Escalate to appropriate authority if the planning/scheduling tasks by the Required End Date results in a requirement for additional downtime and/or resources.
  • Escalate to the appropriate authority whether work on critical assets may not be completed by the Required End Date.
  • Work collaterally across departments and plants, to ensure the proper communication of timing and impact of planned/scheduled tasks.
  • Plan and Schedule tasks to minimize the impact on operating performance without exceeding the Required End Date for work completion.
  • Plan and Schedule tasks to minimize the demand for resources without exceeding the Required End Date for work completion.
  • Manage and adjust resource capacities within SAP to reflect actual resource availability.
  • Printing and making available all committed and scheduled work to the applicable parties.
  • Manage visual management work tools for maintenance planning and control, maintenance execution and operating work groups, via Floor Management Development System (FMDS).
  • Procurement of parts and equipment as required to satisfy planning/scheduling tasks required end dates.
  • Work to achieve maintenance planning and execution KPI targets.
  • Work to support local maintenance execution supervisor and provide back-up relief as required.
