Minera Yanacoca SRL start their operations in 1992 in Cajamarca City partnership with Buenaventura, is the largest gold mine in South America.

Dimensions

Manages all construction activities for the Process Plants of the Yanacocha Sulfides Project during the Execution Stage of the Project (Stage 4), including the Hydrometallurgical Area (Pressure Oxidation, Neutralization Plant, SX/EW, and Lime Boiler) and the Comminution Area (Crushing/Conveying/Milling/Flotation/Merrill Crowe).

Purpose

Managerial responsibility for all aspects of the construction of the project process plants and supervision of the EPC (or EPCM) to ensure the delivery of the plants and that the activities are properly and effectively executed in compliance and according with Newmont's standards.

Working Conditions

Position is located at the EPCM offices followed by the Job Site. Position may be required to travel to and assist other domestic and international sites. Position requires frequent and/or extended travel and relocation to construction sites.

Essential Duties

Ensure that the contractors comply with Newmont's standards in Health and Safety, Environmental and Social Responsibility, Labor Relations, Social Acceptance Program, Site Security, Camp and Site Work Rules and other activities pertaining to the physical site in compliance with Newmont Standards. Ensure Owner's deliverables to Contractors are provided, including construction power, water, facilities, permits, and other site resources. Monitor and overview the Quality Assurance procedures implemented by Implementation Contractor on the project. Overview defect identification and rectification throughout the construction and pre-commissioning process, and then after handover in conjunction with the Operations manager. Maintain direction and review construction contracting strategy implemented for the project. Review the Contractor's plans for controlling large cranes and other high-cost equipment. Coordinate use of Owner's supplied equipment and other site resources. Monitor construction progress, and in particular, the critical path, in conjunction with the Owner's Project Team so that schedule slippage can be monitored and the effects minimized. Review the sequencing of activities, co-ordination procedures and systems, and the construction strategy implemented for the project. Participate in construction reviews in early design effort. Guarantee that construction and operation interruptions are minimal. Review and overview the procedure for tag outs, outages and tie-ins to maximize existing productivity, minimize safety risks and integrate with the Project Schedule. Overview pre-commissioning undertaken by Implementation Contractors prior to handover to the Owner's Project Team. Coordinate with operations for turnover/startup staffing and training. Oversee audits and reviews of the project safety management plan to seek continual improvement. Review the work methods, access and security requirements proposed by the Prime Contractor and promote improvements. Establish a system to manage "Requests for information" and "Technical queries" raised with the Owner's Project Team to ensure the flow of information is controlled, recorded and time frames are met. Monitor the Scope of Work to ensure that changes are monitored, and managed. Provide input when necessary to assist with the evaluation of Implementation Contractor claims and variations. Manage all work to meet Newmont requirements for Stage and Gate deliverables including peer review, opportunity and risk management, and Value Improving Practices. Coordinates all aspects of project commissioning, start-up, and turn-over to operations in conjunction with Commissioning Manager and the Operations Manager assigned to the project team. Ensure Project Controls effectively monitors the Scope of Work and manages changes through the project approved Change Management Plans. Provide input when necessary to assist with the evaluation of Prime Contractor claims and variations.

Training & Experience

• Position may be required to travel to and assist other domestic and international sites. Position requires frequent and/or extended travel and relocation to construction sites.

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline and/or Construction Management with 10 years practical experience in engineering, construction and mining.

• 15 years' experience in Large Mining Projects - Gold or Copper mining as preference

• A proven record of accomplishment in project execution and demonstrated commitment to the successful implementation of the project.

• Basic to intermediate level of written and spoken Spanish.
