About the role

We are looking for a Marketing Communication Lead who will be tasked to provide the right expertise to design and implement product marketing, aligned with our Commercial business to business strategy and with a focus on ESG differentiation.

This role will lead a dedicated B2B product branding and marketing communications (MarCom) team within the Commercial organisation, in ensuring our customers and potential customers know about our products and service offerings, while promoting our unique value propositions. This with the objective of building customer retention and increased volumes through differentiation.

Reporting to the General Manager Commercial - Communications you will:
  • Support the development of the Commercial Marketing and Communications strategy focused on supporting Rio Tinto in selling all products to the customers who value them most in the most effective and innovative way.
  • Lead a team responsible for delivery of the marketing communications strategy ensuring our customers and potential customers know about our products and service offerings, while promoting our unique value propositions.
  • Work with individual commodity sales and marketing teams to develop commodity specific marketing and communications strategies
  • Coordinate and deliver marketing collateral, international product launches and campaigns, graphic design, copywriting, user experience management, content management, production, research and analysis, advertising, social media, merchandising, video
  • Work with the Sales and Marketing and Brand and Reputations team to monitor competitor/industry trends and customer research in order to help shape our performance assessment and future strategy.
  • Manage the Commercial Marketing and Communications team, including performance management, development planning and operational management.
  • Prepare and coordinate training programs to increase team knowledge levels.
  • Provide support and coordination to the Commercial Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on annual customer engagement surveys and other feedback mechanisms
  • While based in Commercial, the team would work with consideration to the broader Rio Tinto corporate level brand objectives.
  • Manage resource requirement through engagement with external agencies / contracting resources

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher with minimum 15 years of progressive Marketing Communication experience preference to B2B marketing experience
  • Track record in effective business partnering to strategic marketing leaders in a global organisation
  • Sound knowledge and application of content development for digital ad, paid ad and innovative story telling via multiple media
  • Strong knowledge of marketing and communication technologies and tools
  • Excellent project management skills, analytical and business acumen
  • Strong mindset and behaviours of team player in a highly collaborative, diverse & matrix environment
  • Curiosity & interest in Commercial aspects of the business
  • Have worked in global roles (across time zones and cultures) and able to deliver through collaboration in a complex, networked/matrix global organisation

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Experienced in marketing communication in the extractives sector
