Reporting to the Technical Specialist, Process Control the Advanced Process Control Engineer will assist Trail Operations to safely and cost-effectively meet metallurgical control targets through the development of process control strategies.

The Advanced Process Control Engineer is accountable for maintaining, designing, and implementing regulatory and advanced process control applications, as well as providing data analysis, controller monitoring, process modelling, and benefit analysis.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, who has strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize contending demands.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Identify, develop, and implement new process control strategies and real-time optimization applications across the facility
  • Develop and maintain process control monitoring applications to ensure process control KPIs are achieved
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting of regulatory and advanced process control strategies
  • Configure hardware/software infrastructure for regulatory and advanced process control applications
  • Draft technical reports and process control documentation
  • Take a leadership role in planning and executing projects; work with minimum supervision
  • Other responsibilities as they arise

Qualifications:
  • University degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial process control experience
  • Registered as a P.Eng, or eligible for registration, with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC)
  • Expertise in basic and supervisory process control strategies
  • Experience developing advanced process control and optimization applications in an industrial setting
  • Experience with data analysis techniques and programming languages
  • Understanding of control system configuration and architectures
  • Knowledge of control system programming
  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation and its relationship to process control
  • Experience reading, updating, and developing documentation
