Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity in our Mill Maintenance Department for a Filter Press Supervisor to at our world-class Pogo Operations. This opportunity is offered at our Pogo Mine Site near Delta Junction, Alaska. We are hiring this position on a 2 weeks on, 1 week off rotation on site.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the daily management, control and supervision of the work and work areas of the Electrical & Instrumentation and Process Control teams in accordance with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
  • Provide technical advice and support to fellow Mill Maintenance Team members.
  • Analyze and diagnose electrical, instrumentation, and operational problems. Recommend solutions and assist with implementation
  • Participate in preparation of various plant shutdown schedules.
  • Improve and reduce electrical and instrumentation maintenance costs through improved maintenance and operation practices.
  • Liaise with Mill Maintenance General Foreman regarding planned work for each shift, including daily priorities, relevant documentation and updates throughout the shift.
  • Develop a culture of high performance and behaviours that are consistent with agreed values.
  • Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements including Hazard ID's, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting Coordinate the daily management, control and supervision of the work and work areas of the filter deck in accordance with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.

  • Undertake a full inspection of all working areas throughout the shift as required to ensure safe operations.
  • Ensure all safety related activities are completed in accordance with Company policy such as Hazard ID's, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting as required.
  • Develop a culture of high performance and behaviours that are consistent with agreed values.


Key Role Qualifications & Experience Required

Qualifications Required

  • Two years of college coursework in a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Current Driver's License.
  • Minimum 5 years mechanical experience preferably in the mining industry.

  • Experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience with Larox Filter press
  • Proficient in prioritising work
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications
  • Computer literacy Microsoft Office..
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
  • Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.
