Due to expansion at our Mill, Northern Star (Pogo) LLC have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Mill Ops Supervisor at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule.

What's the role?

The Mill Operations Supervisor reports to the Mill General Foreman, and the primary role is to supervise and instruct a mill operations crew (10-13 in size) to perform in a safe, cost effective, productive manner while protecting the environment and enhancing the morale of others within the Pogo Mill department.

Duties include:

  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, production sequences, training, etc. to meet production goals.
  • Work with operators in all facets of process training, safety, and general work practices.
  • Promote positive employee relations through effective conflict management and issue resolution.
  • Track, prepare and conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and enforce company practices and regulations.
  • Investigate, analyse, and supervise the documentation of accidents, injuries, and equipment damage.
  • Generate work orders for repair or modification of operations equipment. In emergencies, off shifts, or as directed, perform or supervise completion of minor repairs.
  • Monitor and maintain all production and crew personnel records (daily production and inventory logs, timecards, evaluations, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.


What are we looking for?

The specifics:

  • A minimum of five years relevant operational experience in a gold processing operation.
  • Previous leadership experience managing projects or teams is preferred.
  • Experience with Delta V Distributed Control Systems is preferred
  • Experience conducting performance evaluations, recommending promotions and carrying out corrective actions
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Skilled at maintaining accurate records and logs.
  • Ability to react quickly and efficiently in emergency shutdowns and power failures
  • Ability to work in a team with a high regard for Quality and Environmental concerns with a strong commitment to Safety and Safe Production.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must have good comprehension of safe operating procedures, safety rules, policies, emergency procedures, and MSHA requirements.
  • Must pass a post offer physical and drug test, as well as a background check.


The Details:

Working a 2 week on, 1 week off rotating schedule of days and nights, up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
