Who we're looking for:

The Tailings Facility Construction Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the Tailings Impoundment Area (TIA) is constructed, operated, maintained and managed according to current recognized standards, including all construction, maintenance and surveillance of the projects 30,000 mtpd tailings impoundment facilities and associated water management systems. Reporting to the Superintendent - Construction TIA, responsibilities of the role will include:

• Oversee the construction and maintenance required for all tailings dam construction activities

• Manage crews and provide daily work directions to optimize field construction activities

• Manage and understand the overall requirements and timing of construction activities to meet operational needs

• Working closely with the on-site TIA Manager, Principal Engineer, Construction Superintendent and General Foreman, Quality Control Engineers and Technicians, Surveyors, dam construction contractors, and Consultant's Quality Assurance Team

• Assist in the conduction of inspections of all dams and related infrastructure according to the current guidelines using defined checklists

• Manage and supervise pumping and dewatering activities within the tailings impoundment area

• Assist in the coordination and execution of field activities related to cyclone sand dam construction.

The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be detail and results oriented with the ability to adhere to deadlines. Strong computer literacy skills and a British Columbia Shift Boss Certificate are preferred for this role, together with:

• A minimum of seven (7) years of Dam construction experience on large scale tailings storage facilities with at least five (5) years in a supervisory capacity

• An engineering degree or similar is desirable

• Knowledge and experience in cyclone sand dam construction

• High level understanding of civil and geotechnical tasks.
