Water Treatment Operator
OVERVIEW
We are looking for an individual to join our growing team as Water Treatment Operator and training will be provided to applicants
with the proper aptitude. As Water Treatment Operator you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of multiple
industrial water treatment plants across the minesite.
This role will require occasional long and irregular hours in physically demanding activities (climbing, bending, reaching, lifting) in
adverse outdoor environments. You will have the ability to lift and carry tools and equipment, weighing up to 50 pounds. You will
regularly travel by vehicle, bus, and/or air transportation to work onsite at the mine. Employees may be exposed to loud noise,
dust, inclement weather, and other conditions related to underground mining.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Use of field instrumentation for daily water readings;
• Navigate and use the online PLC systems to control and operate treatment system, including ability to acknowledge alarms and find historical alarm data within the system, and make process changes;
• Perform laboratory process control work including use of water sampling techniques and calculations for sample dilutions, laboratory calculations for testing, AA Machine operation and properly calibrate lab and online process instrumentation;
• Record treatment plant operational data on daily spreadsheets;
• Prepare day tanks for chemical distribution systems, including safely make up lime, and polymer day tanks;
• Apply various treatment technologies used at the mine, including clarifier theory and operations, as well as coagulation- flocculation treatment processes;
• Breakpoint chlorination as a treatment process;
REQUIREMENTS
• High school/GED or equivalent;
• Able to follow all policies and procedures;
• Knowledge of basic laboratory skills;
• Knowledge of basic computer skills, with ability to use MS Word, Excel, and Outlook/email;
• Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others;
• Current drivers licence;
• Able to work independently as well as with teams;
• Loader experience is an asset;
• Water/wastewater treatment experience is an asset;
• Mill/underground mining operation experience is an asset; REWARDS & CULTURE
