Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Paste Fill Operator to join their Underground Production Department at St Ives Gold Mine.
Reporting to the Underground Foreman, you will be responsible for the installation of reticulation infrastructure and the operation of the paste plant, in a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner in alignment with GFA and operational specific quality and statutory regulations.
This role is offered on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster and would require the applicant to be residential in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times.
- Demonstrate a high level of knowledge and proficiency in supervising hands on paste fill infrastructure installation and the different facets of an underground mining operation including, but not limited to development, scaling, support, maintenance, and production;
- Contribute to optimal business performance developing an appropriately skilled workforce that is capable of understanding production requirements whilst demonstrating commitment to safety, motivating the team and taking a role in performance management as required;
- Maintain a working knowledge of all task instructions & procedures ensuring that these are consistently adhered to in the operation of the mine, training personnel and ensuring that they are competent prior to completing works;
- Actively participate in the delivery of training to ensure competency levels are attained and maintained in all aspects of paste fill infrastructure installation and paste plant operation.
- Assist in the effective control of production related costs by optimising the use of allocated resources, training of new operators to meet the paste fill and production schedule.
- Maximise return on assets through effective utilisation and prompt identification and diagnosis of items that require preventative maintenance or repair, ensuring that the team is well aware of their obligations;
- Ensure consistent achievement of production targets by liaising with and supporting team members operating other sections of the mine, to ensure full alignment and synergy of goals and targets.
Key factors to your success include:
- Having previous experience working in an Underground mining environment including general mine service work;
- Previous experience in operating a Paste Plant or similar infrastructure is highly desirable;
- Experience working with Underground paste and steel pipe work is highly desirable;
- Experience with Surface loader operation also required.
- Holding a current Apply First Aid Certificate is desirable.
