Summary

The person in this position will provide state and federal environmental permitting and compliance support to clients by managing and building environmental software databases. This person will work with clients to identify, scope, and manage environmental review, permitting, and compliance projects and provide technical solutions and support. Work will involve creating SQL Oracle-based regulatory reports, troubleshooting technical issues with the software package, developing integrations with other data sources through programming in SQL Oracle, creating compliance dashboards and email notifications, identifying data gaps, providing regulatory assistance for the preparation of compliance plans, and reviewing regulations and technical documents. This position can be served from any of Barr's U.S. locations. Barr may consider a remote working arrangement based on candidate qualifications. Fulfillment of the position responsibilities will require periodic travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience supporting environmental software implementations in a consulting or industrial environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server or SQL Oracle
  • Experience with off-the-shelf EHS software packages, such as EarthSoft EQuIS, Intelex ACTS, Enablon, Enviance, Sphera Essential Suite, and/or SAP EHS
  • Experience and/or familiarity with federal and state environmental regulatory programs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, clients, and regulatory staff
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and to do what it takes to meet clients' service expectations and requirements
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables
  • Effectiveness in building working relationships and working on multidisciplinary project teams
  • A flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needs
  • Self-initiative and motivation, with an emphasis on client service and cultivating a career in environmental consulting
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel to client locations and other Barr offices
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with database and programming platforms such as Microsoft Access, Visual Studio, Visual Basic for Applications, HTML, Java/JavaScript, or similar
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with federal and state regulatory agency staff, resource managers, and other government officials
  • Ability to process complex or rapidly developing information to extract key issues and implications and develop appropriate strategies
  • Experience training and mentoring staff
  • Aptitude for developing client relationships, leads, and opportunities and turning them into business


Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $82,742 - $116,480/year. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
