Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in White Pine County, Nevada. Its workforce comes from Ely, Eureka, Elko, and Spring Creek area. It is the newest mine in Kinross' portfolio aquired in January 2016. Nevada is one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. The Bald Mountain Vantage Complex Project has commenced production, and the first gold bar was poured in June 2019.

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Mine Superintendent, the General Foreman is responsible for directing the mine supervisors in their execution of the mine plan with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency. The incumbent may also be responsible to relieve the Mine Superintendent in his absence.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure the safety of all personnel.
  • Implement and maintain the current mining plan including, mining, drill and blast, and projects.
  • Responsible for management of supervisors on assigned crew including communicate daily production requirements and availability of employees and equipment.
  • Conduct daily lineouts, safety meetings, and effectively allocate employees to equipment.
  • Monitor equipment availability, production priorities based on the availability, and triage with Maintenance to set priorities for repairs.
  • Assist in the recruitment of new personnel and work closely with Human Resources to maintain adequate crew levels.
  • Ensure training, opportunities, feedback, and discipline are provided to all personnel in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Establish and maintain cost effective and productive mining methods within a continuous improvement focus.


  • Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Must have a strong understanding of mining techniques, equipment, materials, and procedures.
  • Must be able to lead employees toward achieving individual, team, and company goals.
  • Must be able to manage and adapt to unexpected mine plan changes.
  • Fifteen years of open pit mining experience.
  • Ten years hands-on heavy equipment experience.
  • Five years supervisory experience in a large open pit mining environment required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of all pit equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Able to communicate effectively with other departments to meet mine goals.
  • Additional supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of drilling and blasting activities including blasting safety /and or a strong desire to cross train required.
  • Competent with computer Mircosoft Office software.
  • Requires valid driver's license.
