Position summary
Downer's Infrastructure business unit is one of the fastest developing businesses within the core Downer portfolio, with an annual turnover in excess of $1B in respect of our Infrastructure business nationally in Australia. Run from Melbourne our Southern Region business (VIC/SA/TAS) is responsible for a variety of new build construction projects coupled with long term asset management contracts across Victoria, South Australia & Tasmania with a focus on Rail & Road works for both Government and Private clients.

Due to a recent management restructure and reporting directly to the General Manager for the South East Region, we are seeking to engage an inspirational, experienced, inclusive and commercial savvy Regional Operations Manager to lead our team.

This permanent position will oversee our Victorian, South Australian and Tasmanian projects and is mainly Victorian based, some travel. Due to the self-sufficiency of the SA/TAS state teams/projects there is only however limited travel required.

This opportunity not only affords a Civil Engineering professional the opportunity to continue to grow a business with existing projects but to take and mould the business to be a key player in the market. You will be supported by a core team in Melbourne, a wider team across the 3 states and an inspirational supportive General Manager who listens and supports his management team to explore and build the best possible vision for their business unit.

ABOUT YOU
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of Private & Government Civil improvement or maintenance projects;
  • Substantial exposure to resource planning coupled with business and project management;
  • Astute in the preparation of project budgets and review of financial information to make sound & strategic business decisions;
  • Comfortable and active in the team in the preparation of tenders and negotiations of contracts;
  • Possesses strong negotiation & problem-solving skills;
  • Built a reputation on trust by delivering on promises with excellence while focusing on safety, value for money and efficiency;
  • A natural relationship builder who collaborates to build and sustain enduring associations;
  • Ideally you will have qualifications in Civil Engineering or Construction Management;
  • Strong safety focus with demonstrated evidence of actively promoting and sustaining a Zero Harm environment
