Reporting to the Technical Specialist, Process Control the Instrumentation Engineer will assist Trail Operations to safely and cost-effectively, meet metallurgical control targets through the development of new instrumentation. This role is accountable for developing and implementing new instrumentation measurements, as well as providing instrumentation subject matter expertise and leadership.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

  • Provide site wide Instrumentation Subject Matter Expertise and Leadership by providing technical guidance, and developing / maintaining site-wide standardsReview and audit plant and process equipment as well as practices to ensure compliance to codes, regulations, and safety standards
  • Lead site wide Instrumentation safety programs
  • Participate in detailed design, maintainability, and reliability reviews for new projects and installations
  • Develop and implement new instrumentation to reliably measure challenging process parameters across the facility, working with engineering and maintenance
  • Champion expansion of new instrumentation technologies throughout site (ex. HART smart instrumentation monitoring and predictive maintenance)
  • Draft technical reports and instrumentation documentation
  • Process Control and Control Systems support as needed


Qualifications:
  • University degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial instrumentation experience
  • Registered as a P.Eng, or eligible for registration, with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC)
  • Expertise in instrumentation fundamentals and instrument selection
  • Experience developing instrumentation applications in an industrial setting, coordinating with instrumentation trades
  • Experience with Instrumentation safety and reliability
  • Experience reading, updating, and developing instrumentation documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
